Uttar Pradesh: Government, Administration and Key Schemes
Uttar Pradesh follows a parliamentary system: Governor (nominal head, appointed by President) and Chief Minister (real executive head, from the majority party in the Vidhan Sabha). As of 2026, CM is Yogi Adityanath (since 19 March 2017) and Governor is Anandiben Patel (since 29 July 2019). The state has 75 districts grouped into 18 divisions, a bicameral legislature (Vidhan Sabha of 403 seats plus Vidhan Parishad), and sends 80 members to the Lok Sabha — the most of any state. The Allahabad High Court (seat: Prayagraj, bench: Lucknow) is the top court for UP. Key welfare schemes: Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana (2019, girl-child welfare), Zero Poverty UP Campaign (2 Oct 2024, poverty identification/DBT), and MYUVA (youth entrepreneurship loans).
